Deputy Minister for Refugees meets with designated Afghan Ambassador to Islamabad

Wafiullah Kakar, Deputy Minister for Refugees, met with the newly appointed Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Najibullah Alikhel at the MoRR on 26 October 2020.

Both sides discussed the problems, challenges, and opportunities for Afghan refugees and migrants in Pakistan.

The Deputy Minister for Refugee Affairs and the designated Ambassador agreed to work in close coordination in addressing the situation of Afghan refugees and migrants and carefully consider their humanitarian needs in the political relations between the two countries.

About 2.5 million Afghan refugees live in Pakistan, of which more than 1.4 million are recognized as refugee under Proof of Registration (PoR) issued by UNHCR.
