The Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, recently convened a meeting with the European Union Special Representative for Afghanistan, Mr. Gilles Bertrand, along with his delegation.

This meeting was attended by the European Union Chargé d'Affaires in Kabul and officials involved in humanitarian aid, focusing on the provision of support to Afghan returnees and related regional issues.
During the discussion, Mr. Gilles Bertrand announced that the European Union has allocated approximately 50 million euros for Afghan returnees this year, which will be distributed & Spent through UN agencies and non-governmental organizations.
He emphasized the ongoing commitment of the European Union to Afghanistan and highlighted that European countries have boosted their assistance in response to the evolving needs of the Afghan Population.
Mr. Bertrand expressed concern regarding the recent clashes between Afghanistan and Pakistan, indicating that such conflicts are adversely affecting the humanitarian situation and creating challenges for returnees.
He acknowledged that, despite facing significant economic difficulties, the Islamic Emirate has managed the arrival of returnees effectively. Furthermore, he noted that this year, the European Union has dedicated 138 million euros to address basic needs within Afghanistan.
Mr. Bertrand urged that issues between Kabul and Islamabad should be resolved through constructive dialogue.
Minister Mawlavi Abdul Kabir welcomed Mr. Bertrand and his delegation, and he extended wishes for Mr. Bertrand's success in his new role.
The Honorable Minister conveyed gratitude to the European Union for its humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people. The Islamic Emirate's intention is to strengthen relations with the European Union and its member states.
He identified climate change and the increasing number of refugees in Afghanistan as critical factors necessitating humanitarian support and asserted that humanitarian assistance should not be politicized.
In concluding the meeting, the Honorable Minister repeated that the Islamic Emirate seeks to foster positive relations with both regional and global partners.
