Resettlement and Re-integration:
Based on ANDS, re-integration and resettlement of repatriates and IDPs is one of the top priorities to the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations. In year 1389, two new returnees’ townships have been designed and inaugurated in Sholgara district of Balkh province. The total number of townships across Afghanistan is now reaching to 60 townships and it is located in 29 provinces.
According to decree No. (104) of president, during the year 1389, around 8,635 families have been distributed land plot under the LAS program. In the same year, the ministry of Agriculture made 2000 acre of land available in Zabul province and over handed it to MoRR for the design and establishment of Returnees’ and IDPs townships in that province. In addition, around 13,800 acre of land has been made available to MoRR in Kabul, Wardak, and Helmand provinces so that to be able to expand the returnees and IDPs townships in these provinces.
In order to provide basic services and facilities in some of the townships, three projects’ contracts are awarded to local construction firms. The projects include construction of sub roads, bridges, culverts wells, and digging of side ditches that were supposed to be finished during the first half of the year 1389. The project costs 54,334,108 Afs which was funded from the approved development budget of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
Also, distribution of 19,219 shelters also distributed in different provinces, to very vulnerable and deserved people.
