H.E. Dr. Jamaher Anwari's Message on 20th June, International Refugees Day

Publish Date: Aug 20, 2011

Refugee, Asylum seeker, migrants and internal displaced persons are those terms that take us towards the political, social, economic, and natural incidents of our country.

If we have a brief look on abovementioned terms, actually it tells that these factors are forcedly separate individuals and families of their own land and residents.

From long ago, this miserable phenomenon put hundreds of thousands of people, especially in non developed countries, into serious challenges.

Therefore, United Nations’ general assembly named 20thJune as International Day of Refugee and based on this major decision, all global acts together for the prevention of migration causes and provision of social and economic services.

We mark this day while millions of our citizens due to different political, military, social, economical, natural and religious factors, for more than three decades, have been migrated to many countries, especially to our neighbor countries.

So, hereby, I’d like to express and extend my gratitude and appreciation to those host nations that have received our Afghan fellows, especially Islamic Republic of Pakistan and IRAN who have hosted our compatriots with good well and humanitarian response. In addition, I would like to thank International Organizations like UNHCR and IOM for their great part in cooperation for our Refugees and migrants.

Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) is committed that with its current possibilities and cooperation of national and International organizations address to the problems of Afghan returnees and refugees in according to the terms and articles of 1951 convention and other international conventions and ready to take measures to find comprehensive solutions to their problems.

On this occasion, I also would like to express my concerns over the problems and challenges that our Afghan refugees face on the way towards their destination.

It is clear for all that considering the last three decades of violence and insecurity increased the number of refugees from different aspect and on the other hand conditions for accepting of refugees in European countries getting stricter.

As refugee, returnees and IDPs authorities, our message to those youths and families who passing thorough deadly paths and crossing mountains, Jungles, rivers, desserts are not good options but only to add up to their problems.

We hope that as we had never set back of any efforts and endeavor, in the future we will also try our best to provide and bring and manage aids, humanitarian assistance, and services for our Afghan refugees.
