Turkish Military Forces help 250 IDP families in Kabul

One of MoRR’s missions under Afghanistan National Development Strategy (ANDS) is to help Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and this has to be fully implemented in coordination with International humanitarian organizations. Following its assistance for IDPs, MoRR in coordination with ISAF, distributed food packages which was provided by Turkish Military forces operating under ISAF, for 250 extremely vulnerable families living in open and partially ruin muddy houses, located in fifth police district of Kabul city.  

While disseminating aids in Dewan Begee area, Dr. Jamahir Anwari, Minister of Refugees and Repatriation told AWDAT that: “Obviously, MoRR has coordinating role in terms of aid distribution and addressing IDPs problems. Luckily what you see today is a small part of MoRR’s efforts by providing and submitting proposals and recommendations to National and International Organizations for urgent respond to assist IDPs. Like today we see the beginning of aids distribution by Turkish forces operating under ISAF, for 250 IDPs families in Dewan Beggee area, western part of Kabul city. We do not consider this assistance sufficient and ask for further aids by national and international humanitarian organizations. It is to mention that Turkish military under ISAF will soon distribute food assistance for another 1000 families in Kabul city”.

The food packages included rice, flour, beans, food oil, sugar, tea and macaroni.

 

These aids were coordinated by Grant Management Unit (GMU) of the MoRR, its acting manager says: “We have concerns about the statues of IDPs before it becomes winter therefore we have many comprehensive schemes to attract donors’ cooperation including those national and internationals and we hope to assist these extremely vulnerable groups and we will put our all efforts to address to their problems.

According to last year statistics collected by emergency state directorate of MoRR, there were more than 84000 displaced families across all Afghanistan but luckily for the current year it decreased to around 62000 families.
